Today is officially the first day of fall and if you are just now beginning to prep for fall sports you are too late to make an impact. For most of you, your fall sports have already begun.
We need to now be thinking of winter and spring sports. What can you do now to ensure you have the best season possible? What prep can be done to reduce your risk of injuries? What can be done to maximize strength & speed?
Many winter and spring sport athletes are doing the skill specific stuff right now including hitting coaches, pitching coaches, shooting coaches and other technique specific stuff. However, it is every bit as important, if not more, to be putting your time in to strength and speed development. As we know the name of the game (no matter the sport) is power and stability. Develop those and the rest comes easy.
Develop a plan based on your age, sport, history and goals that will fit your schedule and accomplish your needs. Be consistent and specific on what you are doing. Training as an athlete is very different from fitness, bodybuilding, powerlifting, and crossfitting. So be sure you understand the difference and have an appropriate plan.
Any questions please feel free to let us know. We are here to help and as always continue with our mission of elevating youth athletics in our area.
